Canaan Valley, WV

We spent the 2nd weekend of October in the mountains of West Virginia on our annual church retreat. The freezing temperatures took a little fun out of a typically magical fall weekend, but they couldn't ruin the highlight of this high-end weekend away: the whole family together in a motel room. Evans was pumped about getting to sleep in his sleeping bag on the floor between the two beds, and the girls were thrilled to be in a bed together. This was one of our first trips without needing a pack-n-play and our family was feeling so grown-up!

Check out Charlotte's thumbs-up. We didn't arrive until midnight on Friday and though everyone slept the whole way over, when we made it to the room to go to sleep, they were bright eyed and ready to party. It took some time for everyone to settle down and go to sleep.

One of the cool things at this resort are the highly domesticated deer. You can see this one had no fear at 6 in the morning looking for a breakfast treat. Evans, standing in the doorway of our room, shared his apple, and the children squealed watching it eat out of his hand.
