Meanwhile...

By the time we were within an hour from Charlottesville, the snow was falling thick and heavy. And it was accumulating quickly! Visibility became low, and traffic became slow. 30 minutes away, and the the traffic was barely crawling. Cars were pulling over to the sides of the road. Many were simply abandoning their cars to find shelter. But not us. We were undeterred with dreams of late sleeping, quiet reading and romantic meals. (a far cry from the packed house full of family and friends and sleeping on the couch that actually awaited us) Well, despite our optimism, our hope grew thin as traffic came to a complete stop for an hour. Cars were simply not moving. We called the Clifton Inn and they advised us to turn back. Fortunately, we were able to turn around and eventually made it to my sister's house. A full house I might add. Her good friend was getting married that weekend and she was hosting the guests. So when I woke up in bed with my sister on my 30th birthday (love you Triney!!), and Evans was on the couch, we had to laugh at what can happen to the best laid plans. Quite a lesson in living with open hands!!!

Saturday night Evans and I ventured out to dinner. Note our amazing Subaru Outback in the background. It was emotional letting the Bronco go to get a more practical commuter car, but on this weekend of wild weather, it did not disappoint! We never once got stuck.


This picture was taken on the Beta Bridge where Evans and I went on our first official 'date weekend' my freshman year at W&L. We were headed to the UVa Law ball with our dear friends, Stephen and Bradford. And we realized it has been 10 years since we were there.
